Azenhas do Mar - Peaceful place Photo

Photographer’s Note

Hi dear TE friends,

Last week, I was in this very gorgeous place. This isn't the first picture from Azenhas do Mar in the Trekearth but is my perspective close to sunset.

The Azenhas of sea is an old population, whose origins if lose in the memory of the time. Date, probably, of the time of the Arab domain the implantation of the first water mills, of sarraceno style, placing itself enters century VIII and XIII, the popular azenhas that had given to the name to the azenhas.Unhappilly some already had disappeared, distributed to long of the river until the a the Beach of the Azenhas of the Sea and were, necessarily, the floodgates that they defined the volume of the river, making to move the azenhas. This azenha, now recouped, ground cereals. Old, many were the existing azenhas and many were the millers who if dislocated here to first grind its flour and its cereals, this place until were called Beach of the Millers and only later, were Azenhas of the Sea isamente, one of the azenhas that the name gave to the land.

In our small world, this is a symbolic view of Portugal: a village on the edge of a continent. Azenhas do Mar is the name of this village. It is near the cape named Cabo da Roca, the most western point of the European continent. Except for the islands, the nearest village to the left (west) is somewhere in North America. Symbolically, this picture shows also that space is not as plentiful in Europe as it is in North America.

What a picturesque view, from an excellent POV, with the white houses perched on the rocks, the swimming pool down and the sea with its waves splashing onto the rocks. There is a good sense of depth, nice colors and an adequate framing.

what a nice view of Azenhas do Mar,i see this place for the first time and i think that is the best.The side warm beams of sun, bath the city with this superb light.Excellent capture with a good management of the colours and sharpness.It's like a city of Mystras that found in South of Greece,in Peloponnese.Well done my friend.

Esta vista é tipica das Azenhas do Mar mas é tambem daquelas que não cansam nunca, especialmente quando a luz incide de forma tão bonita. Gosto muito do casario a ladear a falésia mesmo que isso possa ser perigoso, da vista da linha de mar a bater nas rochas e masi uma vez o digo, desta luz fantastica.
É estranho que quando olho para a foto lembro-me de muitas vistas da Madeira com o casario a ladear muitas falésias.

Thank you for the informative notes and lovely images. I have not heard of the Beng cameras you work with which is of some interest, but most important is that you are able to deliver fine images with a cultural context. It is also nice to see you have met others in the places you have traveled to.
