Photographer’s Note

Due its strategic geographic location near the border with Spain the Portuguese King D. Afonso III concede to Estremoz foral in 1259 ordering the castle construction and its inhabitation.

The "main piece" was and still is the "Torre de Menagem" that it's believed to be a "work of 3 kingdoms: D. Afonso IV, D. Pedro and D. Fernando... a fact that it's the origin of the name of thIS tower:

I like very much the way you composed this image from this very low pov.So many levels in a very good combo.Also the light conditions are wonderful adding much beauty to your image!

Que belo ponto de visão sobre a torre , gostei muito do arco em primeiro plano , a torre ficou fantastica iluminada pelo sol ,a beira das casas ficou com um vermelho bonito , bons detalhes , parabens!!!!

ola Rui,
I was interested in understanding how this tower fit into the whole scheme of things; however, your photo has the best framing of any photos O could fine. The detail of the tower is excellent, while the arch is a good frame for the tower against the sky, then there are those stairsteps of red tile roofs, all thogather a very attractive composition.
