Photographer’s Note
Damião, or Damião of Odemira, author of a well known chess document got know mainly by his "Damiano Gambit" e by his classic "Damiano Defense" or "Portuguese Defense".
This statue was made by Liberdade Sobral, a popular artist from Reliquias, a little village near Odemira, this is how she imagined the famous chess player from the 15th century.
