I'm posting a photo of the South once more, this time from one of my favourite places situated in a small town called Alvito.
This place is called Chapel of St. Luzia, it dates probably from the 15th/16th centuries and it has been inspired by the old country mosques but it's also possible that it has been built using one. It's situated around 1 or 2 kms far from Alvito, on a hill overlooking the town. It has no signs but the little road leading there is in good conditions.
But the place is great. The chapel is really in the countryside surrounded by olive trees, and the noises we can hear come from the wind, from the birds crossing the sky and also from the bushes around - the rabbits that start crossing the fields as soon as they notice our presence.
Happy New Year to you all!

Very interesting architecture and quite different than what we usually associate with Islamic architecture in middle east. Please post more of the same builing with some info about construction material (if posible).

This sounds like a very peaceful place Ana. Your photo is very nice. I love the way the Chapel contrast so well with the glorious blue sky and we have distant views to the town. Nice.

Olá, Ana! Além da beleza geral da paisagem, como sempre bem captada por vc, a construção é muito interessante e a nota idem! Feliz Ano Novo! Miguel.

This chapel is so simple but has excellent layout in green under blue sky. I like city texture at background too. Congratulations.
I would like to wish you and your family a healthy, happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

I thought about just pasting in my previous critique : )
Much of it applies to this wonderful image.
Beautiful simplicity .. the framing of the trees .. the unadorned building that draws us to it with the lines and bright white .. the vast background with the whole framed by the green of the grass and trees .. wondrous simple and tranquil place.

Great contrast Ana. Well done with lighting. I wish I could go there and see the place as you have described in the note. It is as old as Banteay Srey temple in Cambodia which was built in the 16th century. Well done. Sothy

Hi Ana, very beautiful photograph and good catch of sight of a religious building. As promised you will find in my field a photograph of the same type in Morocco.
