I took this shot in my hometown of Vila Real de Santo Antonio in the Algarve and more precisely in the local train station, the Algarve Railway Linha do Algarve is a train service that links the remote town of Lagos to the rest of the Algarve, rail lines were opened in stages from 1899 onwards eventually linking the whole region.

The tracks are of broad gauge, 5ft 6in and it runs between Lagos and Vila Real de Santo António in the east close to the border with Spain.

It threads its way, mostly in a single track, along the countryside several kilometres inland from the coast where people most depended on the train to get to the main Algarve capital , nowadays almost everyone has a car making it basically redundant hence its reduced service throughout the region.

This older lady was waiting for the next service, I saw in this scene such a poignant moment reminiscent of the old times when the station used to be so busy with people and goods, I find myself asking the question; where did the time go??

Hello Joao Paulo,
Une belle et chaude lumière or éclaire cette gare,
J’aime beaucoup cette vieille horloge ainsi que la présence de cette dame en attente,
Bon cliché et note intéressante également,

Hello Joao Paulo,

All seems "hot" on this quay of station.
Great colours, lights and contrast.

Marc

Olá João. Boas e cores e bonita composição. O fturo não pertence decididamente ao comboio e é uma pena ver tantas estações fecharem por esse país fora. Abraço. Paulo
