Photographer’s Note
Posting der Blauwe Engel a few days ago forms a good opportunity to get another train pic in and add it to my Tough & Rugged Portuguese railway series.
This is a detail of a DMU-3 (diesel(-hydraulic) multiple unit) of the 600 series of CP, built in 1981 and elongated in 1989 by the Portuguese Sorefame company in licence of the Budd company of Philadelphia USA. These DMU’s are the mainstay now of CP’s Algarve fleet. They seat 194 passengers and deliver 570 kW.
This one is halting on track 1 of the station of Tavira on its run from Faro to Villa Real de S.Antonio. We were on our way to Villa Real to take the little ferry to Ayamonte in Spain.
A shot of complete DMU at speed is
here.
I love these squat, shiny and comfortable stainless steel trains with their roaring twin diesels .
PCS tech: saturation (master) boosted/altered, adjusted levels, contrast, highlighted some shadow areas, burned the rust, USM-ed , frame added saved for the web.
After Rinie's crit I added a fun B&W version as a WS.

Now it is very clear for me, what is LINHA 1 :) Very special point of view, Bert. I like it. These strong angled views make shot composition as figurative, geometric picture .. and when looking at it I start to look only lines, forms etc ... not the subject itself. Thank you for this view and experience.

Hi Bert
Creative angle and good compo of this trein detail. Crisp, clear, fine background with the strong blue sky.

Hi Bert, strong graphic image with a beautiful blue color. I like the sign 'Linha 1'although it would have been better that the sign said: Tough & Rugged VIII.
The crop is excellent, with the sign '2' included here and the electricity thing on the right.
At first I thought you made a joke about the link, the one at speed, but looking at it for the second time, things come back into my memory, yes, you froze the speed in that picture.

Hi Bert!
A great graphic capture in diagonal lines!
Excellent sharpness and contrast, the blue sky is really amazing.
A fine portrait of this machine in an unusual but really well working composition.

Hi Bert. Again, this is a great picture with a strong graphical impact. I particulary like the texture opposition between the train and the soft sky. The low angle, very creative and the resulting diagonal make it particulary dynamic. The "Linha1" is also well positioned, I like also its inclusion. I can also see a building reflection on the window, a nice detail. An excellent one, strong, colourful, razor sharp and excellent composed and croped. The only thing missing here is the beautiful sound of the twin diesels ;-). Thanks for sharing!

A very nice angle chosen !
I like the blue which is a superb contrast with the steel and also this sign is a nice detail in this trainshot, sharp and very clear, Bert !

Very clever angling for this one, Bert. A fine and colorful presentation of the train, with crisp outside details on the car. The Linha 1 sign was well incorporated in the compo, and the reflection in the train door is a neat detail. Well done with the light management.

A very strong composition. The dominant diagonal dividing the picture in 2 halves. The blue segment reduced by the mast and the curve on the end of the wagon-diagonal and the arrow with LINHA 1. It all gives a very balanced composition. Bravo.

Another very dynamic capture. Your angle creates an energy here. This one has more of a feel of a speeding train moving by than the one where it is moving. The angle, the low point of view and the sign and sleek lines all add to the feel of a whizzing train. It just shoots right across this composition. Very nicely done.
