This lagoon near the South East tip of Portugal is part of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa. The Atlantic ocean is just behind that strip of sand on the background, which is actually a narrow sand island more than 4 Km meters long. To the left of the image lies the charming old fishermen village of Cacela Velha.

There is a funny story behind this one: I couldn't start the engine of my car after a delicious lunch on the nearby restaurant, so I had to call the insurance company. That wasn't as easy as you could imagine, as the mobile phone coverage is very weak, so I had to climb to a higher place to make the call. It turned out that I was lucky in my mishap, as there I was with time to spend in that beautiful place and I had my camera with me. After an hour or so, we were already on a taxi on the way to pick a substitution car, when the man from the assistance phoned me telling that by mistake he had turned the key and the engine started. We got back and ended up coming home in the car. What did happen? Some bug in the anti theft software! Modern days hassles... :-)

Ola Jose!

Valeu a pena a "avaria".
António

Olá José,
nice story about occasions of capturing. The composition with the boat and the green is nice. It is a very deep view we get to see a bit more than colorpoints on these island. It looks more than a place of the Mediterranean, because of the missing waves and motion. The colors are good and natural, like such a place in the sun. I would have cropped a bit the sky, I think above the cloud on the left.
Cheers, Ulf

Merhaba Jose...
It's a wonderful composition... The point of view and the perspective are wonderful too... The colors, the contrast between the blue and the tones of the yellow, the light and the details are perfect...
TFS...
Stay well..

Hi Jose,
This is a nice clear shot of this beach scene. I like the colours and the way you have chosen to compose the shot with the boats off centre, and the grass in the foreground.
Regards
Wanda

Very unusual picture. We don't normally expect to see the beach at the other side of the sea. There are so many horizontal layers from the foreground grass to the unexpected beach in the background, giving the image great depth. I like the way our eye hops diagonally from right to left going into the image to the back.

Hi Jose, this is a nice view of the beach. Very detailed. Also the colors are great. Very clear too. Sothy

i like the parallel lines of the sand streches... the blue boat is just at the right spot... congrats jose...

Olá Jose,

I laugh a lot after reading your story. But the result is excellent. I like horizontally divided parts to much and the lovely boat at front. Colors and sky are beautifully captured. Congratulations.

I would like to wish to you and your family a joyful and peaceful holiday season, and a prosperous New Year.

Friendly Regards,

Ertugrul

Hi Jose,
Great story and great photo. The strong light works well here I think. Fascinating looking place. It looked somewhat dull when I saw the thumbnail, but when I opened it up I was very pleasantly surprised! Good Job.

hi jose,
one of the best fotos you have uploaded! pastel-like colors, so eye pleasing. the colored boat captured off-center is "on the right place". informative notes, as well!
benedict

Hi jose yes Cars just when you need them most they let you down! and phones thats the same I always find that I can always be in the only place with no coverage in a glen with a 3 mile walk to get a signal, but at least you had a nice place to take a photo and a good one at that! nice looking place for a swim.
regards
Donald

A big hurrah for the bug in the anti-theft software, Jose, otherwise we wouldn't be able to have this shot at TE! The motorboats on the rigth are a little bit busy. I did a WS to show what I mean. I hope you approve it.
Regards, Peter

The lagoon of Fabrica II".
Aqui perde-mo-nos um pouco mais entre as ervas do primeiro plano, o barco e a praia ao fundo.
Um abraço,
F

Hello Jose,
You have suprb collection of pictures. This one is so cleverly composed with different horizontal layers because of the lagoon - making this original shot unique.
Very well done and best regards.
Jusni

Dear jose
I often used to worry about my photos that they lack a desired sky view but this is common in many photographs, so that s happy to notice about me. depending on the day, the sky may not offer that much to a photographer while we can focus on other details surely.
your photo is simple but beautiful. seeing part of mud and beautiful sea is great. and about your adventure, sometimes the moments you feel you are unlucky can turn out to be good moments like this
