United Colours of Barroso
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The assortment of colours is due to several species from the Ericaceae family (heather) and also from an endemic (particularly in Iberia) wild Leguminosea, the Pterospartum tridentatum (carqueija), appreciated for culinary purposes and for infusions (acknowledged diuretic and anti-oxidative properties).
The picture was taken near the village of Alturas do Barroso (Boticas), as the goats were climbing the mountain, looking for fresher food. The Barroso area benefits from a good reputation related to meat and dairy products, and the breeding of cattle and goats is still almost free of processed food and usually subject to communitarian habits. |

Well done. Perhaps would be better somewhat farther from the goats, to see the first ones smaller.
