Photographer’s Note

The best thing of Viana do Castelo the Quarter Antigo is, with paved streets that go of square in square and of street in street, coming closer palaces and churches. With the sun one always travels better, but there are urban sceneries for that they seem to ask a little of rain to highlight the reflexes of the stone.

The Square of the Republic is the neuralgic center of the historical helmet, where they find the Town hall, which construction was initiated in the reign of D.Manuel I and concluída with D.João III, it is an edifício of two flats entirely construct you in granite.

The House of the Compassion, his construction was initiated in 1520 and it extended until ends of century. The project owes to itself João Lopes, or Moço. It is one of the more interesting works of civil architecture of this epoch. The frontage, looking for the Square, is formed by two rails alpendradas with columns profusely sculpted, that place in a series of arches back region com ionic columns. On the frontage there is a triangular front. In the side lefthander, the portal of granite stands out, with diverse sculptures.

The source is Renaissance of 1553.

To my back there is a beautiful environment of ancient buildings that mostraré in a WS.
