Photographer’s Note

Today I present a cliché of Arcos de Valdevez.
This is a pretty medieval town, like many others in the pretty province of Minho, Northern Portugal.
Its melodic name means Arches of the Valley of River Vez. The arches are these of the old stone bridge.
Beyond the bridge you can notice some colorful tents on an island of the river. It was part of a Medieval Fair (see WS) that was happening this day. It included real products but also staged events, like reconstitution of the Tournament of 1140 between the Portuguese and the Leonese.
In towns and villages of this region you can see also real daily life medieval scenes, such as beggars and communal washing places.
Location in WikiMapia: 41.8441415, =-8.4174371.
