Located in Carmelite Street Bookstore Lello Irmão is a must stop in Porto. Known as'' one of the most beautiful libraries in the world by'' The Guardian newspaper, the library was opened in 1906. The library is one of the most prestigious libraries Porto with its standard Art Nouveau façade designed in a Gothic style English. Inside, there is a large room filled with shelves and a gallery accessible by a wide and beautiful carved wooden staircase ... you can even drink tea or coffee.
One regret I have is only one photo of this building and I cut up the mast ...

Salut Jean Philippe,
superbe la façade! Un beau style néo gothique, presque une cathédrale, en tout cas un temple dédié au spirituel.
L'intérieur est-il à l'avenant?

The façade of this bookshop is really quite delightful. You have captured from a great angle and with excellent detail. I like the animated atmosphere and the light and shadow contrasts.

Bonsoir Jean Philippe,
I had been in this beautiful bookstore, and you are definitely right: a "must" stopping point in Porto.
It's wooden staircase, the fully "booked" shelves with all kind of litrature and other old books - most amazing sight.
not allowed photography indoor's - but the view is unforgettable, enriched with the unique display.
Cheers, you brought memories back, and well applied photo.

Bonjour Jean Philippe,
a very lovely and interesting presentation of this unique building. Its place in the cityscape is discreet but you have taken this picture with effective perspective and in marvellous light, exalting the building's character and beauty. I like how it's placed in a clear and comprehensive context and appreciate the sharpness and colour definition all over the frame, even in the shady foreground. Wonderful daily life setting with pleasant atmosphere. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,
