Bay St. Martinho do Porto, located 19 km from Alcobaça and about 100km from Lisbon, is the last vestige of the old Gulf Alfeizerão that extended up until the sixteenth century.
With its 3 miles of beach, sea basin is elliptical and calm waters also has a bar with the opening 250 meters, between the hills south of Santana and the Lighthouse to the north.
The village of St. Martinho do Porto is developed in the amphitheater from the Chapel of Sto. Antonio to the pier and the beach, following the Avenida de Salir up the dunes.
Due to its characteristics, the bay of Sao Martinho do Porto was one of the main ports of the country by the end of last century, been gradually losing its importance with the advent of steamships. Today it is an important port and center of recreational collecting seaweed underwater
