Obidos was the traditionalpresent of the king of Portugal to his wife, a tradition wich commenced in 1282 when D. Dinis gave the town to his wife D. Isabel.
Obidos have a medieval castle, who has been converted into a "pousada". The hotel Pousada do CAstelo is in the Castle that forms part the old walls of this fortified village
