Obidos Castle, a photo from Leiria, North

Photographer's Note

This charming village of whitewashed houses on the hill, is surrounded by walls of the fourteenth century. When King Dinis married Isabella of Aragon in 1282, Obidos was a wedding present. In those days it was an important port, but in the sixteenth century the river was silting up and lost its strategic importance. It has since been preserved as a quaint, very popular among tourists.

Óbidos Castle was rebuilt by Afonso Henriques after recovering the village of Muslim hands in 1148. It is a magnificent medieval fortress built on the foundation of a building and remodeling moro Manueline style. Today is a charming Pousada.

When I visit the castle had a difficult lighting, as the sun was nearly backlit, but forced its magnificent view try the photo, this is the best I could find, I hope you enjoy it.

Este encantador pueblo de blancas casas sobre la colina, está rodeado de murallas del siglo XIV. Cuando el rey Dinis se casó con Isabel de Aragón en 1282, Obidos fue uno de los presentes de boda. En aquellos tiempos era un puerto relevante, pero en el siglo XVI el rio se encenagó y perdió su importancia estratégica. Desde entonces se ha conservado como un pueblo pintoresco, muy popular entre los turistas.

El Castillo de Óbidos, fue reconstruido por Afonso Henriques tras recuperar la villa de manos musulmanas en 1148. Es una soberbia fortaleza medieval construida sobre la base de un edifico moro y con remodelaciones de estilo Manuelino. Hoy es una encantadora pousada.

Cuando visite el castillo tenia una difícil iluminación, pues el sol lo tenia casi en contraluz, pero su magnifica visión obligaba a intentar realizar la foto, esto es lo mejor que pude conseguir, espero os guste.

Hola Luis, como estoy disfrutando tu escapada de primavera a Portugal, con lo que me gusta ese encantador y acogedor pais, una buena foto de este interesante castillo, tenias el sol un poco encontra pero la toma se ve muy bien, buen trabajo, felicitaciones, buena tarde y feliz domingo.

a very interesting story about the history. I think, is great composition of this catle. Allways, we are interesting of something, even if the light was difficult inside the castle, I'm still interesting. I understand what do You meant. I like this photo. Very well done.

Hola Luis,
un castillo muy fotografiado, debido a su imponente belleza, y que tú has inmortalizado perfectamente con tu cámara, buscando un buen ángulo visual y un encuadre fantástico.
Con eso has obtenido una composición muy bien estructurada, con un ligero contrapicado muy efectivo, que enfatiza la elegante arquitectura del castillo sobre un cielo azul bellamente decorado por las nubes tan blancas.
Controlaste con mucha solvencia la difícil y fuerte luz del sol, y eso se nota en la calidad de la foto, en su buena exposición y sus colores vivos y naturales.
La nota es muy informativa, como siempre, y el marco remata un trabajo muy fino y perfectamente realizado.

The beautiful view upwards makes the fortress look impressive and difficult impregnable.
It's remarkable that only a small path leads to it but perhaps this is the backside of the fortress.
Despite the difficult light situation the picture is quite clear and sharp enough.

Nice ancient architectural shot under the texture blue with nice chosen POV...like the textures of the stone wall...

very difficult light indeed but the place is so extraordinary that the final effect is still very impressive. The dark clouds add a dramatic touch to the composition.

Bonjour Luis,

Le point de vue est impeccable et la contre plongée donne beaucoup d'ampleur aux fortifications même si elles ne semblent pas en avoir besoin.Le ciel en arrière plan est du plus bel effet.

esta es la vista clásica del castillo de óbidos. muy buena luz y sus efectos visuales. el cielo dramático es bien hermoso y hace bien para la composición. buen trabajo.
