Photographer’s Note

About my previous photo (Algarve before the crowds), Mike (mbasil) wrote: "maybe you can take a "full crowd" shot in August, too?". Unfortunatelly I had no recent shot, because I wasn't there since many years ago, last century. However, I found in my files a shot of Foz do Arelho that could be some Algarve beach in August.
Foz do Arelho, in central coast of Portugal, has two beaches: one on the side of the lagoon (Lagoa de Óbidos), and other on the Atlantic Ocean shore. In this picture you see the crowded lagoon beach. I guess that people flock there because the water is calmer and warmer. But, in my opinion, the rough Atlantic side is much better, and less crowded even two days before mid-August (when I shot this), which is the high point of the season in Portugal.
You can see a part of the Foz do Arelho Atlantic beach in this workshop, which is with a really nice photo that you can see in Mind The Gap!.
I think that in this picture you see only Portuguese, while in the Algarve there is a more international crowd. I guess most of these Portuguese would prefer the Algarve, but that would mean c. 350 km (218 miles) more.
There is a workshop with a better detail of the tents.

Foz do Arelho, do lado da Lagoa de Óbidos. Eu prefiro a praia do lado do oceano. Acrescentei um workshop com uma vista melhor das barracas.
