Another post of the Monastery of Seiça, now in ruins.
It existed already in the 12th century and still in the same century it was inhabited by the monks of the Cister Order, that had also the Monastery of Alcobaça. Protected by the crown during the Middle Age, it was abolished by King John III but a few years later, still in the 16th century, King Sebastian gave it back to the Order of Cister.
It was rebuilt in the 16th/17th centuries, following a project of Mateus Rodrigues.
Today it's completely abandoned and the most interesting part is still the big church in Mannerist style, that we can see here! Unfortunately, a big part of it has disappeared because the building was adapted to become a factory in the 19th century.

Ola Ana, Romantic composition fro this monastery. Superb colours and cut. beautifully created mysterious atmosphere. Such ruined places have for me great charm , one can feel as a discoverer going around. Artistic shot.

A luz suave, paredes antiquadas, a vegetação ajuda a evocar um passado distante. A composição é inteligente e divertido. A qualidade da imagem é excelente. Bravo.

Hi dear Ana
So simple but impresive image.
Under exposure and deep dolor is very tasteful.
Perfect vertical framework, great sharp and clear presentation indeed.
Very very heavy and solemn image!
Thanks for your sharing with good work and have a good start of new week! Best regards,
Takero from Tokyo

Good observation and awareness, realistic and meaningful picture full of textures, an interesting array of decay in the matured wall which has grown organically as the various additions that have appeared down the years. But I like the fadded old time feel best and the aged look gives a special charm. Great shot, Well done,

Ola dear Ana
This is such a mysterious photography. its simplicity, the excellent composition and the play of light. And your note is very interesting, just what TE is all about.

A simple picture but which to me is very artistic a rendition. The almost monochrome dull colour of the wall is punctuaed by the green of the foliage which grow in the ruins. Very moody & forlorn feel in this image

curiosa esta abertura no antigo portal fechado. gosto destas linhas e da aparência rústica da imagem. uma foto sob difíceis condições de luz. bem feito.

This is wonderful, the sense of abandonement is perfectly captured, I feel I can almost smell the moss and decay here. The greens look beautiful against the grey stone work, and it is so tempting to peep through that dark whoe in the wall and see what lies beyond!
