Photographer’s Note

Lighthouse at Atlantic Ocean in the city of Figueira da Foz. Figueira da Foz is located at the mouth of the Mondego river, 40 km west of Coimbra, and sheltered by the Serra (mountain) da Boa Viagem. As a city of tourism it plays an important part in the centre of the country. Discovered as a sea resort by the end of the 19th century, it gained great reputation in the 1920’s and 1930’s. The city had the Portuguese nickname of Rainha das Praias which means Queen of the Beaches.

Hello Mikolaj,

You have several beautiful photos in your gallery including Roofs of Gaia, View from Santa Clara and Oriente Station; but I find this one to be bleak and dismal. Pixilation is heavy, colour is non-existent and there is no definition or clarity. I don’t believe this is solely due to the weather – I consider this as an error of compression. I mean, what is there to gain from this image, you see everything in a one second glance, nothing holds me any longer.

I apologize if you think I am harsh, but honesty is everything on TE.

I don't see why the shot to be interesting has to be sunny and with a bright colors. In real life too much of the interesting places are grey enough.
And this shot is interesting, with effects of lot of water in the air.

A ta fotencja cos sie ludziskom nie spodobala. Ciekawe dlaczego. Po tej orgii kolorow, jaka pokazujesz na swoich portugalskich fotkach, ta jest inna, stonowana, minimalistyczna, wiec zwraca uwage swoja innoscia. Mnie sie podoba, wiec punkciory i usmiechy zostawiam z czystym sumieniem.

Zdjecie efeltowne nie jest, to fakt, ale ma swoja sile wyrazu. Bardzo pomyslowe. Bardzo skromne. Ale mnie sie podoba.

Troche wzgardzona przez kibicow fotografia, moim zdaniem, calkiem nieslusznie. Ciekawa minimalistyczna kompozycja, minimalistyczna kolorystyka. Mnie sie podoba to zdjecie, ot co.
