Photographer's Note

The adorned entrance to the Law faculty in the University of Coimbra .
From this façade and to the outside-left, is the library, not allowed to take photos there – but fabulous and impressive how books preserved there for centuries, no lights on the library…daylight and/or candles…only.
Through this entrance and left, there is the University-Chapel, graduates and/or tutors only can get married there.

The history of the Coimbra University dates back to the 13th century when the town was the capital of Portugal.

Bonjour Ike
Très jolie cette façade de l'Université, je croyais plutôt que cétait une église. L'architecture est merveilleuse et belle terrasse aussi. Excellente présentation et encore bien conservée pour le temps.

I'm sure there are a lot more very interesting stories behind those doors, but thanks for the info we do learn about the world through photographs. Great capture of sculpted gate and good dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

Hi Ike,

The two statues are framing well the entrance. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the facade of the law school. The morning light is embellishing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Ike

I've noticed that the ancient law schools of Europe are so beautiful. The one in Rome was so impressive as is this one. The details are very ornate and expertly captured. And the small amount of cloud provides a touch of dynamism.

very beautiful detail of this famous gate. I liked the framing and the light here. last time I crossed this place we had took my aunt to visit an hospital and during this time we walked in this area.
