Photographer’s Note

Old Cathedral in the city of Coimbra, Largo da Se Velha. Built in roman style in 1162, the principal features are: the gothic cloisters, the oldest in Portugal and some interesting sculpture and tombstones dating from XII to XIV centuries. The Sacrament Chapel dates from th XVI century and is the work of Joao de Ruao. St. Peter’s Chapel is the work of Nicolau Chanterenne, XVI century, where Jorge Almeida, Bishop of Coimbra, is buried. The entrance dates from the XVI century and is the work of Joao de Ruao.
