Photographer’s Note

I was walking in the morning at the Natural park of the International Tejo (Tagus in English). The sunrise in a foggy day.

Natural park of the International Tejo (PNTI) was created the 18 of August of 2000, because it was very important the fauna with high conservation statute. Of the species in this zone, they have most importance the cegonha-preta (Ciconia nigra - stork), a águia-real (Aquila chrysaetos - eagle), a águia-imperial (Aquila adalberti - eagle), a águia-de-Bonelli (Hieraaetus fasciatus – eagle), o abutre-do-Egipto (Neophron percnopterus - vulture), o grifo (Gyps fulvus), o abutre-preto (Aegypius monachus - vulture), o bufo-real (Bubo bubo), o falcão-peregrino (Falco peregrinus - hawk), o peneireiro-das-torres (Falco naumanni - hawk) e o chasco-preto (Oenanthe leucura).

In relation to the flora and vegetation, is very important the extensive zone of the azinho (Quercus rotundifolia Lam.) and sobro (Quercus suber L.), the zambujais (Olea europaea L. var. sylvestris (Miller) Lehr), the zimbro-bravo (Juniperus oxycedrus L. - juniper-tree) and big spots of the mediterranic weeds.

In the diverse ecosystems of the PNTI we meet inventoried about 300 species of plants, 24 of fungus, 154 of birds, 44 of mammals, 15 of amphibians (of the 17 existing ones in Portugal), 20 of reptiles (of the 27 there are in the portuguese territory), 12 of fish, 153 of flyers, among others.
