Photographer's Note

The historic town of Guimarães is associated with the formation of the Portuguese national identity in the twelfth century. Example extremely well preserved and authentic transformation of a medieval town into a modern city, it has retained a rich typology of buildings reflecting the specific evolution Portuguese fifteenth century to the nineteenth century, continuing to use materials and traditional construction techniques.
