Moliceiro boat in Aveiro city

Known as the Venice of Portugal, Aveiro is surrounded by salt-flats, beaches and lagoons and dominated by the Central Canal running through town. Once a big sea port, Aveiro lies in a region of valleys cut by mountains and fertile lagoon plains.
The city of Aveiro is crossed by canals, which give it quite an individual character, and in the old quarter tourists can see the quaint whitewashed houses of the fishermen and visit, early in the morning, the Mercado do Peixe, an auction of the fish caught during the night. Of all the boats seen in the area, the moliceiro is the most elegant, being perfectly lined, painted with bright colours and with often ingenious and humorous decorations.
The fine beach of São Jacinto lies close to woodland and the São Jacinto Dunes Natural Reserve, with well preserved dunes and varied fauna and flora.

Inn background, you can see the Culture and Congress Center (CCCA) is a place deeply connected to the city. Its location, central, makes it a listed building and a landmark for visitors Aveiro. The modernity of the functions included in the beauty and tradition of the Old Factory Jeronymo Pereira de Campos make this building a great place for performing all kinds of events.

Hi Aires,

A colorful and well composed shot, and, as usual, accompanied by a note that is informative. The shapes and colors of some of the boats used in Portugal are evocative of boats in Malta (and even somewhat the gondolas in Venice). Is there a chance that the Phoenician influence in each area provides the common aspects. It might be that is too far in the distant past.

well the chimneys looks straight to me... i always like those old factories converted into cultural ceters, we have some around here too... a beautiful sunny day fr a boat ride, and a good shot to show it all... all the best aires...

This is a great shot of this interesting boat. The angle of the shot is nice giving the scene nice depth and direction. The old factory in the background provides a nice backdrop for the scene. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

I am not sure if there is a tilt? But maybe my eyes is not so good.

This is a superb capture of this colorful boat before it gets too far into the frame - a quick hand is needed to get this.

Very nice composition to show the full view of the building with its chimney stacks. Good sharpness and depth of the shot.

Composed well with the boat in a diagonal. In fact I think there would have been another boat which passed by & the reflection of this boat in the resulting wake of the water adds to the picture. Good note as well!

Très joli ce bateau multicolore, j'embarquerais volontier pour aller faire un tour sur le canal. Le centre des congrès derrière est magnifique avec sa cheminée qui s'élève dans le ciel. Excellent éclairage, superbes couleurs et beaux reflets.
