Photographer’s Note
Moliceiro is a kind of boat used in the harvest and transport of algae, sargassum and other river vegetation. Algae harvest was originally made by farmers to use as a fertiliser, but it was later created the profession of "moliceiro", the harvester of algae and sargassum, who would stock the farmer with its harvest due to farming growth and an increasingly higher need of productivity. Algae are used as a fertiliser to turn infertile and sandy ground in an excelent farming area. Today moliceiro is also used in Ria de Aveiro as a tourist transportation.
