Aveiro is famous for its Ria (Lagoon) and the ‘Ovos Moles’, a kind of sweet desert

Here we can see one Bridge covered the flowers and a couple going to shopping center.

The ‘Ria de Aveiro’ is extended by the city, alongside the sea, a distance of 45 kilometers and a maximum width of eleven miles, from Mira untill Ovar.

The ‘Ria’ is the result of the retreat of the sea, with the formation of coastal ridges that from the sixteenth century, formed a lagoon which is one of the most important and beautiful river of the Portuguese coast

Covers eleven thousand hectares, of which six thousand are permanently flooded, breaks down into four major channels on a branched around a number of islands and islets. Here flow the rivers Vouga, Antuã, Bocoa and Fontão. There are only one communication with the sea, allowing access to Port of Aveiro, vessels of large draft.

Rich in fish and birds, has big areas of water, places of election to practice all water sports. Although it has been lost from year to year, the importance it has in the economy Aveiro, the production of salt, using ancient techniques, is also one of the more traditional features of Aveiro

The Ria de Aveiro is widely used for tourism, particularly through its characteristic boats, the moliceiro. Tourist destinations: cities of Aveiro and Ilhavo, beaches of Barra, Costa Nova, Torreira, Murtosa, S. Jacinto, Furadouro, Ovar, Cortegaça, Barrinha, Esmoriz, Vagos, Vagueira and Mira
