Hi TE friends

This is a famous building in Aveiro city, supported many activities since the contruction.

The first reference to this building occurs in 1406, in a paper authorizing the construction of a tide mill. Then, in 1830, a local buy it to support his industrial unit.

After that, this building supported many activities: salt deposit, lead deposit (1856-1858), coal deposit (1858); packages and orange warehouse; headquarters of a newspaper; and then a mill again, but this time operated via a steam machine (1880). At this time, this building only had 1 floor.

In the 20th century, the 2nd floor was built and it becomes the main building of "Escola de Desenho Industrial Fernando Caldeira" (Design School - 1918). After that there was many kind of uses until 1926, when the Ministry takes it to be the Captaincy Building and the house of the port Captain. From 1993 to 1994 it becomes the council association and, finnaly it was bought by the city hall to be one of the most important building os the city: the Assembly.
