Photographer’s Note

Madeira (pronounced [mɐdeiɾɐ] or [mɐˈdɐiʀɐ]) is a Portuguese archipelago in the north Atlantic Ocean that lies between [show location on an interactive map] 32°22.3′N, 16°16.5′W and [show location on an interactive map] 33°7.8′N, 17°16.65′W. It is one of the Autonomous regions of Portugal, with Madeira Island and Porto Santo Island being the only inhabited islands. Although it is part of the African Plate, some 650 km (400 mi) off the coast of Africa, it belongs politically and culturally to Europe, some 860 km (535 mi) from the mainland.
Madeira, known originally to the Romans as the Purple Islands, was rediscovered, possibly accidentally, by Portuguese sailors some time between 1418 and 1420. The archipelago is considered to be the first discovery of the exploratory period initiated by Henry the Navigator of Portugal. It is a popular year-round resort, noted for its Madeira wine, flowers, and embroidery artisans, as well as its New Year's Eve celebrations that feature a spectacular fireworks show, which is the largest in the world according to the Guinness World Records.

Hello Goncalo.
Interesting b/w shot. I like very much the pattern of the tiles in the plaza, and your very good point of view. The ND filter has had a strong effect. I think I would straighten the photo on the left, although it may cost you the woman and part of the car. Also, I'd make it a little darker. There's a very pleasing perspective in this shot and I like the sharpness and smoothness of the image.

uma foto muito boa essa, e gostei da opção do P&B, apesar de não ser de minha preferência fotos assim. Esse filtro seu por enquanto é um sonho de consumo meu, mas é bem difícil de achar por aqui, aquele endereço que você passou não existe mais, não entendo como um fabricante deixa um país tão grande como o Brasil sem representantes... Acho que não querem vender mesmo, mas deixa pra lá, o que importa é que sua foto ficou ótima e o filtro trabalhou bem nela.

Noto aqui aquela luminosidade tão especial que só vejo em algumas das tuas fotos. Imagino que não seja da conversão para P&B, que por sinal está fabulosa, pois noto o mesmo em algumas a cores.

Very nice picture from the square. Like the mosaic tiles on the street which are attractive. Perspective is well built along the wall on the right. I might have wanted a bit more contrast to the picture & maybe some distortion correction on the left. But the tones here are very nice to look at & an informative note to accompany
