Western Tatras Photo

Photographer’s Note

Western Tatras (Polish: Tatry Zachodnie), are part of the Carpathian Mountains, located on the Polish-Slovak borders. They have 42 km real length of whole edge. Surface of Western Tatras is about 379 square kilometres, what is almost half of whole surface Tatra Mountains.
I made this picture from slope of Trzydniowianski Wierch, the highest top on right, it's Starorobocianski Wierch 2176m, in left from him in background Blyszcz 2159m.

A wonderful mountain view! Good composition and nice bright colors from the foreground to the distant peaks of mountains as well as in the sky. Sharpness is perfect. Well done.

Helo Maciej - you have captured here great light - stripe of the sunbathed slopes and foreground give to the shot fantastic contrast and lot of power. the light of the sky is well balanced too! I took a lot of hikes through the Western Tatras - but always from Slovakia part (Zapadne) and always in tha autumn, when the colours were coming from the yellow through the red to browns, so it is very interesting to see them in the green scenery. :) Regards. J'aime bien l'ambiance générale de cette photo.
Le ciel est superbe et les trois "bandes" : le ciel, la montagnes et le champ sont du plus bel effet.

Hi Maciej,
You know when to push the button. When light hits the ground and spreads his warm glow over the valley. See here my friend, light in the background, without it the picture would 90% less in quality than it is now. You have a great eye in composing and creating good landscape photography...keep it up, it sure looks good..!!!

Witaj Maćku,

Wspaniałe zdjęcie, od razu nabrałam ochoty, zeby przejść się granią, podziwiając widoki (i robiąc fotki przy okazji:)). Żleby jeszcze nieco ośnieżone. Piękne kosówki i krzaki jagód. Bardzo lubię Tatry Zachodnie, właśnie te partie. Dzięki za przypomnienie. Pozdrawiam

Hi, Maciej. The green tones are very nice in your picture. Their variety gives a very good depth to the picture. The sky is very dramatic and allows the tops to stand out very well. Very good light management. The area looks quite wild.

Beautiful clouds are always attractive to my eyes!
Often they combine with varied light like here, and adds attraction value to the landscape...

Maciej,
I clearly have to agree that this was a glorious moment of light, weather conditions and rigth composition to get the shutter going. The light in the background in the mountains stands wonderful against the relative dark foreground and the huge cumulus in the sky. Just that makes this shot worth it. However, I have to say that I'm a little bit disappointed with your PP. The overall impression of the shot is to dark. Not quite sure what makes this but I would try to work out the levels or somehting else that would gave this image more brilliance and shine.

Hi Maciej. I love the colours and mood of this. I don't agree with Peter that this is too dark (sorry, Peter) - I think that is what gives it its mood, and brightening it in PP would have produced a different image. The f/16 has produced the perfect DOF for this. Cheers . . . David
