Three photos of the desperate families of Polish soldiers from Afghanistan. I saw them protesting at the Department of Justice in May.

Yesterday four soldiers charged with the killing of civillians in the village of Nangar Khel in Afghanistan have been released from arrest by a decision of the Military Chamber of the Supreme Court in Warsaw.

Three other soldiers had been released in May. The incident in Afghanistan happened on August 16th last year. A mortar attack by a Polish patrol killed eight civilians, including women and children.

Seven soldiers were arrested and charged with unlawful killing of civilians. They face up to 12 years in prison.

Hello Malgorzata,

Interesting documentary style image. The war affecting Afghanistan is a tragedy and hopefully it will end soon for the benefit of everyone involved. Good perspective of this moment and desperate plea of the relatives...I will be waiting for the pictures of your upcoming TE meeting in Poznan and careful, Aga is an excellent cook :-). Cheers :-)

Hello Malgorzata,

A good journalistic shot with a good note as well.
We had the same discussion here in the Netherlands with two soldiers and civilian casualties. It is good that these things are looked at and not just closed with the saying 'collateral damage'. But on the other hand, a soldier also needs to have the certainty that he has support of his superiors if something happens.
It's like a doctor who is afraid to operate since he might get a lawsuit if something goes wrong. But a soldier can't ask his opponent or the innocent bystanders to sign a liability waiver form...
Interesting.

Greetings,
Dennis

Ciao Malgorzata,
Brava.
Ciao e buona domenica
Paolo.
