The Wawel Hill - the castle, the cathedral and the residence of Polish Kings (X c. - XVII c.). The first settlement, the Wiślan, on the Wawel hill dates back to the VII c. In X c., several bishops of the early Christian church resided here and a Pre- Roman church, The Church of Our Lady Mary, was constructed. At the beginning of the XI c., a Roman-Gothic castle and cathedral were built. Reconstruction of the buildings was carried out under king Alexander Jagiellończyk at the beginning of the XVI c., with a number of chapels being added to the cathedral. In the crypt of the cathedral are the royal tombs from this bygone era. The castle was reconstructed again during the reign of King Sigmund Stary, 1517-1533 and the Renaissance arches and arcades were created in the courtyard. The state rooms around the courtyard and the arcades have come down to our present time almost untouched. By 1611 the Wawel was no longer considered the official residence of Polish Kings and Krakow lost its rights to being called the capital city of Poland.

Bonsoir George

Best regards.
Daniel.

Hi George,
I like the perspective in this one and the patterns and textures on the wall and ground. Good control and exposure of the light, and great details. NIce balanced composition with the trees on the one side and the buildings on the other. An interesting image.

Wanda

Hello George, very pretty treatment which brings much relief on the way of this road which climbs, the composition is interesting fact more than one excellent structure of the wall d`enceinte and buildings, as well as framing which bring a very beautiful balance in luminous texture between the sky urban lighting and the remainder of l`image, I like also the co-education managed well in the temperature of the colors for a saturation which I appreciate, the bottom of the image is well closed with the arched building which creates a harmonious visual counterpoint at the bottom of the hill of Wawel, sincerely............................Hello George, très joli traitement qui apporte beaucoup de relief sur le trajet de cette route qui grimpe, la composition est intéressante du fait plus d’une excellente structure du mur d‘enceinte et des bâtiments, ainsi que le cadrage qui apportent une très belle balance dans la texture lumineuse entre le ciel l’éclairage urbain et le reste de l‘image, j’aime aussi la mixité bien gérée dans la température des couleurs pour une saturation que j’apprécie, le fond de l’image est bien fermé avec le bâtiment voûté qui crée un harmonieux contrepoint visuel au fond de la colline de Wawel, bien amicalement

Hello George,
very nice the night shot from the Wawel Hill with all these elements that constitute your composition. The wide alley leads on the eye on the statue and after that at the tower of the cathedral.I like the artificial lights and the colours of the whole frame.Well done.

Hi George,
Very nicely composed photo with a good sense of depth. The use of light is very nice but the color of the sky is magical. Best regards. Salvator.

Hi George,
Beautiful night composition. Very good colours, sharpness and good light. Very well done.
Have a nice sunday.
Ahmet

A beautifull blue night sky, an very intructive note and a good light especially on the left where it combines with the shadows. I like the right part a little less since the street lamps give perhaps to much light for a direct view.

All the best,

Emmanuel
