Photographer’s Note

Ostrów Wielkopolski is a town in central Poland with 73100 inhabitants (2005), situated in the Greater Poland Voivodship.

Main Square

The present town hall was built in 1828 and was designed by J.H.Haeberlin - an associate of famous Prussian architect K.Schinkel. It is situated in the middle of the main square, which is built-up with tenements from the 19-th century. At the beginning it was a brick, two-storeyed building with a loft and an open courtyard. This structure was converted in 1862 and 1948, since then it hasn't changed a lot.

Niestety w Ostrowie by³em tylko przejazdem, teraz widzê ¿e mam czego ¿a³owaæ - bardzo ³adna starówka. Mo¿na dostrzec kilka fajnych motywów.

Nice winter shot! Your composition is good including the lamppost and the softly lit buildings. The people add nice perspective and a human touch to the photo. The colors and lighting are very nice.

CZe¶æ M³ody!
Fajny widoczek z ostrowskiego Rynku. Oj, tak ciê¿ko jest teraz chodziæ po centrum. Taka chlapa siê zrobi³a. I niestety ¶nie¿ek topnieje. Ale pewnie to jeszcze nie koniec zimy. I bêdzie mo¿na zimowe fotki postrzelaæ. Ca³kiem ³adny ten nasz Rynek.

Zachodnia pierzeja rynku w ciekawym o¶wietleniu i zimowym otoczeniu. Szkoda, ¿e s³onko tak nisko, by³oby jeszcze bardziej kolorowo.

Hello Aleksander,
Excellent photo given the difficult light conditions. Seems to be a low standing sun reflecting on the snow making the light very hard which shows in your photo.
I hope to see a photo with some warm evening sunlight sometime during summer. I think that would look really good.

Hej Aleksander,
There's quite some snow at the moment in Poland I see, we haven't had any in Holland this winter (yet?). A nice view of this almost empty street with only a few people in the white world. The light on the facades is very pleasant and I find the composition also good with the lamppost placed well in the photo. Nice work!

Widze, ze Twoje miasto rowniez slicznie zimą wygląda. Nie jest zbyt tloczno, ale tak 'akurat' dla zdjęcia. Dobra perspektywa nadajaca glebi zdjeciu.
