Photographer’s Note

Taken from main railway station in Warsaw (Warszawa Centralna).

New skyscraper and old Palace of Culture and Science which is actually higher, but due to perspective looks much lower than skyscraper.

About the Palace:
"Location: Plac Defilad 1, Warszawa, Poland
Date of construction start up: 2 May 1952
Date of final construction works: the year of 1955
...
In spite of the competition going on the market the Palace has been remaining the highest, the biggest, the most popular building in Poland and those features make the Palace win all the popularity polls. It can be described as a well-off 50 year old, rather stable and a little bit worn-out as it happens in the lifecycle. Whatever we may say here the Palace constitutes irreplaceable part of Warsaw and the only landmark for the lost tourist somewhere in Ursynów District showing him/her the way to the City Centre"

Nice contrast of the two buildings. Almost looks out of place. I like the detail and the sharpness.

Hello Wlodek,
Huge contrast between old but with many details and new with just glas and steel frames. Sometimes the contrast works, I don't know how it works here (maybe take a shot from some distance?).
The light seems to flatten out the old building a bit or doesn't it?

I've been there and I know this place looks completely different but you did a fab job, great POV and wonderful use of the most important thing in photography i.e "imagination".

very lovely architectural shot. i like the way you frame the photo. the modern glass-window pattern contrasted with the classic structure is very nice. my only 'criticism' is the top of building on the right should have been captured in full.
