This time I want to show you not very charming place, not full of colours, not full of live...
Wroclaw is very nice city actually. However you can still find such ugly places like this. The worst is that buildings like this one are not only on suburbs!
I had noticed this place few days before I took this shot. I was thinking how to get the best result. At least black&white made a good work here. Polarizer helped me to get some higher contrast.
I used f/1.8 to keep in focus just the right part of the shot. Thanks to this the left side of the picture looks like painted and brings the impression that this shot is a very very old photograph, straight from 2nd war. Don`t you have a similar association?
Worse side of Poland. Sad but true...

It is interesting photo, but if you didn't say about 2nd war in your note, I will never think about one. The photo brings sad mood and shows us about another side of any towns, not only Wroclaw. Same places are in every towns I think

I was attarcted to it because of its fantastic contrast and tonal range. But I do find that its narrow dof to be somewhat distracting. If it were the case that there were drastic thematic difference between the sharp foreground object and the background OOF region, then it wouldn't distract, but here the continuum of the same surface motif from the sharp to the oof region does not allow us to concentrate.

I think that all cities have places with suchlike ruin middle of the city, indeed this suit in a reporting about the WAR II, it's very specially!
Thanks a lot,

Only 6 point?! That's ridiculous! Superb contrast in your shot - it really shows that it was recorded on film - it is so hard to make a good BW from digital.
I agree with your thinking behind the wide aperture - it works really well. The picture speak volumes about city life - as much about deprivation and decay as it does about the destruction of way
