I saw this newly married couple in the Kazimierz district of Kraków along with a photographer with an assistant. Waiting for them to pose nicely for their official wedding photo I followed them discreetly for a couple of minutes to see if there could be something for me too.
I was so puzzled when these were the poses they were asked to do. It was only after seeing this photo at full size several times that I realized they were imitating the street signs. That may be funny enough, but I still find it strange that the souvenir of their wedding should be a photo which gives the impression that the young bride is pleading with her brand new husband: "But darling, please don't leave me already".
Maybe it was actually the intention to make people laugh.
Two more photos from the same occasion, or at least the same street, can be seen as workshops. Here is a larger version.

This is an attractive wedding shot, all tough a tad bit unusual. I wonder why they both are facing that wall, attractive as it may be...? But I see that it was the photographer who asked them to pose like this, I imagine he new what he wanted here? But the light is pleasing and the colors are nice.
hejdå och trevlig helg

Hello Gert. Marriages. The most beautiful day of your life. The wedding photographer must arrange each pose. But for all other random photographers are wedding couples an ideal subject. Really an interesting photo and a successful text.

You was a little bit paparazzi when you follows, this newly married couple.
Always very nice these happy people with flowers and a lot nice intentions.
As portrait and sharpness and clarity get we very well picture.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,

c'est une bonne observation, la scène est drôle et bien retransmise.
Le cadrage met en opposition les panneaux et le geste des mariés.

You play the paparazzo as Craig and follow all the new couples downtown! Very strange wedding picture, but understandable with the sign postat right.
Street photography is a world to discover everyday!
ourania (31029) 2014-07-12 8:59
this scene is due to the relatively new trend for newly weds to pose for a series of photos out of the church, creating a photo story or acting as models. This was the case with the newly weds I came across in Plaka, Athens. This couple acts on a strange theme but it occurred to me that maybe they are into transportation or met in a city street:) I like how you framed the scene, exalting its layout, it's lovely that the bride is smiling. The colours have a delightful intensity. I also like the "backstage" and the graffiti in the workshop. Congratulations and thank you!
The usual settings for wedding sessions on Leros are beaches, chapels and the castle. One couple chose ruins:)
All the best, have a great weekend,

Hello Grent, I don't have any idea what they want to show and why the act like this. Strange scene for me too. I'm from Poland but never seen that moment like this one. I don't know.
Well capture and well executed image. Tfs.
All the best and have a great WE,
eldancer1 (27891) 2014-07-12 10:12
I used to do wedding photography that was before digital camera and waiting for the prints to come back is always the worse part of the job. We did some funny poses and serious ones. I like this capture of those two playing around. Yes, it looks like the scene is what you assumed. Good lighting and sharp details. Well done, tfs.

Hello Gert, Haha, you gave another chance to this wedding scene:). I told you, it is very nice photo. You only changed the note, I think. Maybe cropped something, I do not remember so well. Anyway, amusing picture with nice quality. Should I give another chance to the Otto Wagner's church interior, I wonder.
have a great Sunday
kasianowak (6441) 2014-07-12 11:02
Even before I read your note I thought it looked as if the man were running away from the altar and the woman chasing him, hoping he would go back to the church... :-)
Very funny situation, I wonder how many newly wed couples want to have this kind of photo to commemorate the occasion. I don't think I would...
Glad to see, in the WS, the groom without the dark jacket. In Poland, this kind of bright sunshine in a photo taken in June, usually means HOT.
Have a nice evening

Hi Gert,The couple was looking for a pose original and funny, a good idea even if sometimes you fall into the ridiculous .... ehehhe .... nice idea for a different photo, excellent quality as usual! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano
SnapRJW (31137) 2014-07-13 2:03
Hello Gert - For sure, I am getting old and grumpy ... I don't understand why anyone would want a wedding photograph of themselves imitating these signs. I see from your WS that both photographer and assistant are young and I'm sure they are more in touch with young people and their tastes than I would be.
A strange wedding photograph but how clever to follow the couple in the hopes of catching a special moment.... you did that! Quirky and unique.
williewhistler (14177) 2014-07-13 2:14
it was probably as well that I read your intriguing note before writing a critique as it does explain the couple`s unusual pose, not one that is usually associated with newly weds and of course without including the sign means nothing.
It`s a humorous, nicely presented photograph that has lightened my day.
Best regards Les.
macjake (56582) 2014-07-13 4:55
yes, i didn't get it at first either...but now that you pointed it out - they are totally coping the two signs beside them.
Kind of funny i suppose, i guess.
I'm sure they have all the standard wedding photos, so why not do something a little different eh?
although, with me and my picky nature...the bride should actually be holding the bouquet of flowers at the bottom of the white stem so they're standing up taller in her hand - as in the sign...see what i mean?
fun shot, good on you to stalk them around town haha
Nicou (122006) 2014-07-13 6:39

Another interesting from street.
I like frame, colors and light.
Good reportage shot!

Precis tvärtom i vägmärkena... Jag hoppas att du är nöjd med utdelningen på blden.
Royaldevon (29591) 2014-07-13 9:18
I have to say this is a very different photograph ..., well, it's not what you expect to see a newly married couple doing! I'm sure you are right, it was intended to be an amusing shot.
Without your explanation, it looks like a bridal couple saying their vows to a brick wall!
I love it! Photographs can record the unusual as well as all other aspects!
Thanks for sharing this,
abmdsudi (43530) 2014-07-13 10:24
This looks a bit funny at first and a bit diff, tx to your notes. I like the informal gentle shot of the couple - very nice lighting and the juxtaposition showing excellent detail of the bride's white dress which is vital with bridal shots. Like the angle captured here and great exposure and always to me the candid approach works so well. You've captured the moment precisely that is so natural with lovely glimpse of happy smiling face and the flowers add the lovely touch to a happy image. Congrats
tyro (20454) 2014-07-13 11:21
What a rather strange story and what very strange poses for a couple straight after their wedding ceremony! I'm surprised that Malgo couldn't give you any insight (maybe this isn't peculiarly Polish?) into this weird ritual in her critique. But, then, perhaps you're right - perhaps they really are trying to mimick those road signs beside them!
Whatever the real story behind these odd gestures, you have captured the scene brilliantly with gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure, a clever composition and exceptional details and sharpness.
And two lovely workshop images too.
jcpix (13658) 2014-07-13 16:43
If I'm not mistaken, I believe it was Serghei who pointed out the mimicking of the street sign for this concept. Whatever the case, it's an unconventional approach by the couple and wedding photographer. On the other hand though, it's original...I don't imagine many others would have this picture in the wedding album!? :)A nice opportunity seized by you to have a unique take on the traditional bride and groom. As you noted, perhaps he's already realized the errors of his way and is trying to make a quick escape as she's pleading for his return. :o He obviously chose the wrong direction to run! Peculiar and amusing, well executed on all accounts. Have a great day. All the best.

Hi Gert, Well captured moment with humor. You are lucky not being discovered by the photographer's assistant otherwise.......
Great light and tones along with details even though it is not planned. Thank for sharing

Hello dear Gert,
It reminds me to the walls in Verona !
Very well seen and captured. Good layout and interesting notes.
TFS and have a nice week ahead.

nice the view of the new married couple to try to put on the wall its sign of love.Excellent the placement of the couple in the frame with the two more photos in the WS to complete perfect the whole scenery.
Waylim (25350) 2014-07-17 8:48
This is so cute. I love it. it makes me smile. I was wonderful the same, though I didn't know they were posing. I thought it was a spontaneous moment.
Very playful and with good sense of humor.

Hi Gert dear
Sign beautiful and moving moment of the bride and groom. Exposure well performed. I love it. Congratulations and thank you for sharing
Tigerlily (3107) 2014-07-19 0:53
Excellent observation, Gert.
They were having fun, you even made a drama out of it.. "Oh, please don't go.. darling":-D
Beautiful light control. This perhaps is the most difficult light situation for a photographer.. dark coloured suit and white dress.. you managed beautifully.
rigoletto (34255) 2014-07-20 4:36
oh, your desperate couple was really quick. they decided to get married on the same day? i wouldn't do the same for sure... i guess the groom was illuded enough to get married, as i see in your photo, he approaches to the wall as if he sees an imaginary gate of happiness over there. i hope they didn't try to enter it.
serp2000 (39998) 2014-07-22 11:07
Well, this is my second visit to this photo. ;) And this is also your second attempt to sharing this photo. Good public reaction indeed.
I remember this funny shot makes me smile, 'cause I like this sign behind the bride. Good capture of the moment.

Original humoristic scene
A very good decisive moment
delpeoples (53009) 2014-07-28 3:06
Ciao dear Gert
What strange people, but that's what makes life - and our photos - so interesting. I find married couples trying to outdo each other nowadays with new, inventive and weird things to do at their wedding. Glad you were there to capture this little bit of weirdness. The light and definition are beautiful.
adores (37069) 2014-07-29 16:01
It's a very funny shot indeed! Great that you included the signs in your shot. I wonder if their photographer took a similar one, it's a very original shot for a wedding album:)!
mcmtanyel (13463) 2014-08-04 14:48
This is what i call a "stolen photo". You stole some other photographer's photo! That's alright, though, I do that a lot, too. My other favorite theme is "Who photographs the photographers?" in which I photograph others taking photos. Well done!
clic (14916) 2014-08-21 9:06
Strange gesture indeed that can be mistaken for the behavior of Jewish people inserting messages to Gog in the Wailling Wall.
Fine overall depiction, especially on the wedding gown.
