Collegiate Church of the Holy Cross and St. Bartholomew is a Gothic church on Cathedral Island located in the immediate vicinity of the former castle of Silesian Piasts .
Church of the Holy Cross was the first two-storey church built in Silesia and one of only a handful in Europe. It was founded by Duke Henry the Righteous to serve as a sanctuary where masses would be said for the souls of the deceased members of the dynasty.
Construction work on the chancel began in 1288. It was completed and consecrated in 1295. The large crypt constructed below the choir was an architectural novelty, splitting the church into two levels, each with its own row of windows: long windows on the upper level and small ones below. In the photo you can see two entrances.

piekny Kosciol i naprawde super kadr!
Te brunatne cegly i czerwony dach wspaniale kontrastuja z blekitem nieba tworzac wyrazisty uklad graficzny fotografii.

WoW! What a fantastic and majestic looking church. The height and imposition all the more impressive in this magical capture. The light and colours are almost luminous and the effect just beautiful. Stunning!

Dobra ostrosc i proporcje calosci.

A well composed shot revealing the grandeur of this church with the pin sharp green steeple seems reaching out the sky attracting viewers from afar and definitely hard to miss! The exposure is balanced, great colours and contrast to deep blue sky but what i like most is the impressive low shooting angle and close creating an immense depth giving nice perspective and impact. A delightful architectural image well taken. Congrats, TFS.

The low position from which you have taken this picture, brings out an impressiveness that is very good. Also good colours with the green spire well placed in the composition.

Ciao e buon fine settimana

Lovely photo of the very beautiful church. You captured it in all its grandeur. I like color of the dome standing in stark contrast with the rest of the church. Good photo with natural light and colours. Thanks for sharing.
