HAPPY NEW YEAR!
HAVE A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR PARTY!
In the photo you can see the oldest tower clock in Poland. The first mention of the clock dates back to 1368 when the clock was placed on the tower of the Town Hall in Wroclaw. In 1569 a higher tower was built and a new clock was installed. This clock had four faces divided into 24 hours. The clock was imprecise because the beginning of the day was set at sunset, so at any time of the year at a different hour. In 1580 the time measuring system was changed from 24 to 12 hours and the old clock faces were removed. New faces were divided into 12 hours and they had only one hand. These faces have survived at the tower to this day. The clockwork has been repeatedly rebuilt and improved, the current mechanism dates back to the 19th century and weighs 2 tons. A man has to wind up the clock every day.

how cool is that to have the illuminated clock on one side, and the darker version on the left. Its like having the new year and the past year all in one.
creative shot indeed, one that I really like.
Happy new Years

Nice view of these two clocks. I like the way light has selectively brightened up one of the clocks, it is creating good contrast. Beautiful!! Well observed and well presented with a detailed note. Thanks for sharing.
Wish you and your family a wonderful New Year as well.

Your picture nicely illustrates the coming turn of the year. 2013 is slowly fading away and 2014 is just around the corner, rising up in all its splendor and glory.
Have a wonderful New Year, and keep making beautiful pictures.

an extremely difficult lighting situiation which you managed satisfactorily, I assume better results would have been impossible.
Looking at your picture I feel I should also go to Silesia and see the land of my father's family as I did already with Zachodnio Pomorskie, homeland of my mother.
A happy and prosperous New Year!
