Photographer’s Note

Lighthouse in the village of Darłówko. Lighthouse was built at the base of the eastern breakwater on the estuary of the River Wieprza into the Baltic Sea. Its purpose was to guide vessels safely to the port at Darłowo. The lighthouse is in fact situated in Darłówek Wschodni, now a well-known holiday resort; while Darłowo is occupied chiefly in the fishing industry and sailing. What is certain is that in 1885 a small one-storey pilothouse was erected at the base of the eastern breakwater. This structure was built in red brickwork, with an adjoining square tower on the south. On its second floor there was a room for the pilot on duty, whose task was to observe the roadstead and keep the lighthouse which showed the way into the port. To increase the lighthouse's range, in 1927 the tower was extended by another storey, and on top of this a lantern was installed with a white steel dome and a gallery around it. The whole construction was now 22 m high.

Bonjour Mikilaj,
un bon contraste entre deux gammes de couoleurs fortes, les bleus et les rouges. Un ciel vraiment magnifique bien que je les préfère un peu nuageux.
J'apprécie beaucoup la netteté, totale.

Quite different lighthouse compared to those in Aegean and Mediterannean world.

Nice shot of this interesting lighthouse. The angle of the shot gives the scene depth. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness. The deep blue sky provides contrast for the red brick structures.

The old lighthouse still keeps much of its charm. Must be an excellent lookout, people climb to the top to enjoy the view of the city. The colors are very well-contrasted, bright and the light is splendid.

Another good view of this brick lighthouse. This is quite intetesting for me as all the lighthouses I've seen in Australia and Asia are white! Great contrats between teh red brick and blue sky, good composition.
