Photographer’s Note

Lighthouse in the village of Darłówko. Lighthouse was built at the base of the eastern breakwater on the estuary of the River Wieprza into the Baltic Sea. Its purpose was to guide vessels safely to the port at Darłowo. The lighthouse is in fact situated in Darłówek Wschodni, now a well-known holiday resort; while Darłowo is occupied chiefly in the fishing industry and sailing. What is certain is that in 1885 a small one-storey pilothouse was erected at the base of the eastern breakwater. This structure was built in red brickwork, with an adjoining square tower on the south. On its second floor there was a room for the pilot on duty, whose task was to observe the roadstead and keep the lighthouse which showed the way into the port. To increase the lighthouse's range, in 1927 the tower was extended by another storey, and on top of this a lantern was installed with a white steel dome and a gallery around it. The whole construction was now 22 m high.

Hi dear Mikolaj,
Very nice capture, with perfect pov and nice light and bright colors. Very well composed.
I think the boat in the foregreound is a copy of the famous Santa Maria of Christoph Colomb.
Also in Turkey, quite far from the seaside, in central Anatolia, there is such a 1/1 model in an artificial lake.

A fine well balanced composition where the sailing ship makes a fine foil for the lighthouse. The warm tones of the ship and lighthouse sit well under the clear blue sky. Very good sharpness.

Great note about the lighthouse, but what about teh ship :). Nevertheless, good composition on what looks like a beautifulk sunny day. I do like the wooden ship though.

Nice composition, with the pleasure boat in the foreground. Lighthouses are a very interesting theme, I have not seen another like this, in red brickwork. Great image, excellent light, colors and sharpness.
