Photographer’s Note

Is this photo ugly? Just tell me. Yes, it is. I post it here because I think we almost all the time tend to take nice, beautiful, "well composed" photos. And this way we create another world. World that does not exist. And this is interesting, since trekearth pretends to show the world through photography. Indeed, trekearth is showing OUR CREATION of the world we see around.

This is not something new what I'm talking about. The very basic book "On photography" by Susan Sontag discovers much more superstitions about photography. Unfortunately, 99% of people taking photos posting them on 99% of web pages like this one, follows these superstitions.

In fact, everything what comes out of our hands and heads is our creation. So, this photo is a creation too. But I'm consciously post it as my opposition to the "mainstream" presented on TE.

Hi Piotr,

Truly an interesting note and yes I do agree a lot with the statements made. I think too often we enhance our images to the point that do not represent the reality but "our reality". We want people to see whatever we think things should look like and not what they really. Nice composition showing this daily life scene. Thanks for sharing Piotr :-)
