Photographer’s Note

Bristol Hotel in the city of Warsaw (Warszawa), Krakowskie Przedmieście street. Designed by Władysław Marconi and Stanisław Grochowicz, build in 1899-1901 by a company whose partners included Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Polish pianist and prime minister. This exclusive hotel hosted several famous personages of policy and culture. This hotel is of early modernist style, with original furnishing designed by Otto Wagner junior, in the style of the epoch. It is famous for its crystal lift from that time. After World War II the hotel was devastated and given a new, social-realism in style, decoration, opened in 1947, nationalised in 1948 and later became a hotel exclusively for visitors from abroad. Closed in 1981, it was thoroughly refurbished in its original style in the 1990s and re-opened by Baroness Thatcher in April 1993, as Le Royal Meridien Bristol.

Hello Mikolaj, neighbour for today,
A splendid composition of this splendid turn of the century hotel. The point of view is well chosen to give us a view of both the façade and the side. I like also the presence of the repeating motifs of the lamps. Very good light and colours and excellent sharpness. Interesting to see Mrs Thatcher had a hand in the reopening.

Z tej strony rzadziej fotografuje sie Bristol, ale tez z tej wlasnie strony widac ogrom tej budowli, ladna kompozycja z latarniami. Dobre czyste i spokojne swiatlo.

Jan ma racje z tej strony rzadko pokazuje sie Bristol a jak widac prezentuje sie on rownie okazale. Dobry, dopracowany kadr i lagodne swiatlo.

Czy to ten hotel uchodzi za najdrozszy w Polsce? W kazdym badz razie slawny to on jest. Calkiem ciekawa fotografia. Spokojne swiatlo, dobre spokojne kolory, dobra ostrosc, glebia ostrosci tez chyba dobra.

Czy nie sadzisz, ze nowe latarnie po remoncie Krakowskiego Przedmiescia prezentuja sie korzystniej? Nie jestem pewien, czy chodzi Ci tu o Bristol, czy o nowe latarnie? Ale moze jednak i o to, i o to. Fajnie tu, pusto, jeszcze nie ma dzikiego tloku.

Z tej strony mniej zdjęć, ale też ta strona jest znacznie mniej efektowna. Najfajniejsze są tu latarnie. Pozdrawiam
