Photographer’s Note

The Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes (Zamek Książąt Pomorskich) in the city of Szczecin, Clock Tower dating from the XVI-XVII centuries. Prince Barnim III built the first stone building on the castle hill in 1346. The south wing was constructed during the reign of Bogusław X. The east wing was built by his son Barnim XI. Both wings were changed to Renaissance style by Duke Jan-Frederik in 1575-1577. At the same time north and west wings replaced the original brick buildings. The fifth wing, the Museum wing, was added by Duke Phillip II and Francis I between 1616-1619. The castle was destroyed by bombs in the Second World War, but has been completely rebuilt.
