Established in 1926, the Poznań University of Economics is one of the oldest and most prestigious business universities in Poland. The school is a 16,000-strong academic and research centre, specialising in the education of highly-qualified management personnel, economic experts, as well as national and local administration workers. Its reputation is built on high educational standards consistent with the world’s latest teaching methods and business trends, on its educational offer and its undisputed position as a leader in economic research. The University’s main strengths are its educational base, international relations and co-operation with the business world. The University has over fifteen thousand students. It is the only university in Poland to enjoy full academic rights in economics, management and commodity sciences.

The school employs nearly six hundred academics, including approximately
a hundred and twenty five professors. These are highly-qualified educators as well as eminent scientists and business practitioners. Members of the University’s research personnel sit on various advisory committees, participate in research projects, offer expert opinions, and advise business entities and state agencies. As the school attaches great importance to the quality of education, it consistently employs modern teaching methods in class.

The educational offer consists of over forty specialisations taught in the faculties of: Economics, International Business and Economics, Informatics and Electronic Economy, Commodity Science as well as Management. Education is provided in the form of first-, second- and third-level studies, MBA programmes (in co-operation with Atlanta’s Georgia State University – American programme; with Berlin’s European School of Management – German programme; with the University of Rennes – French programme; and with the Nottingham Trent University – British programme) as well as post-master’s degree studies (over forty programmes). There are two modes of study: full-time and part-time.

The University offeres a number of courses delivered in foreign languages – most of them taught in English, some in German, French and Russian. It also offers Doctoral Seminars in English. The transfer of international education standards is ensured through international exchange programmes, including the prestigious double-diploma agreements. About five hundred students and academics per year can benefit from them thanks to regular co-operation with over 110 universities around the world. The number of foreign partner universities co-operating with the Poznań University of Economics is growing steadily. The University’s lecturers actively participate in the work of international research networks and groups, and in intergovernmental research projects. They also give guest lectures at universities abroad. The number of international research consortia and projects financed from European funds is also constantly growing.

The PUE is ranked among the top business schools in Poland. For several years, it has consistently come second in rankings published by respected Polish magazines, which proves the University’s strong reputation for research and education, recognised by employers.
