Photographer’s Note

Hello Trekkies!
Today, my dears, I shall continue posting photos from my home town - Koszalin in Poland.
This picture is very important for me personally.
What you see here is my school! :)
Stanislaw Dubois' State Gymnasium and Lyceum. It is something like college in other European countries.
After the WW II the school started activity in 1945, from 1947 is located in actual building. In 1948 the school obtained a "Stanislaw Dubois" name. In 2004 the school is ranked at 13'th place in Poland. In 2005 we celebrated school's 60'th jubilee.
Building itself is older than its current owner.
Was erected in 1912 as Duchess Bismarck's School for Girls under the chairmanship of Louise Freitag. The architectonical idea of building was very revolutionary for beginning of XX Century. Madame Freitag's dreams were the big, sunny classrooms and very wide corridors for unconstrained walking during bad weather, assembly hall with balcony for school choir and sport hall.
Accomplishment of this innovative idea was very expensive and Madame Freitag has been forced to ask the City Council for financial support. Finally in 1912 the building was ready.
This solid building survived First and Second World Wars. Even fires lighted by Soviet troops after the WW II in Koszalin city centre did not damaged the school.
During the World War II the building hosted German military hospital, after the war has been used by Soviets for the same purpose.
After hospital evacuation in 1947 Koszalin City Council finally recovered the school.
I hope, that history of my school was interesting for you.
Thank you for seeing!
Chris
