Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
This time my archive photo, made 6 years, two cameras and a few kilos ago :).
The Gert's photos from Poznań reminded me the first TE-Meeting of the Polish group in Poznań. I remember it well as if it was yesterday :). I came to Poznań from Warsaw with the early train, Krzyś and other friends were waiting for me at the railway station. We went to see the abandoned gas work then on the market square we had lunch. I was looking forward to making some nice photos of the colourful houses there, something like Gert has made, but it was impossible. All the square was full of beer umbrellas, stalls, Indians, palms and crowds of people. But we had such a fun! After this first meeting came next ones, in Krakow, Antonin, Wrocław. But from the people that took part there only Krzyś Fis and I are still on TE. Such meeting is not possible any more. To se ne vrati...
To go to Poznań (300 km one way from Warsaw)on Saturday I bought a weekend rail ticket. I came back late in the evening. My ticket was still valid, so next morning I went to Kraków:). Always crazy traveller.

Nice shot of this beautiful architecture. Turnout was good. Composition, depth and exposure, well done. Thanks for sharing

Superb colours and light in this photo and a good POV which captures all important buildings. Especially the clouds contribute to the fine atmosphere. I think these stalls with umbrellas were not there this year. Only the periphery was disturbed by the beer umbrellas. (What's wrong with Indians? :-))

First, your title..... great song, written many years ago when we were young, so now the words are even stonger as we remember our past.
Now, your photo......WOW! Those colourful buildings are magic, and (I presume) the church is amazing, and look at that great window on the left of the image, it looks like it was added on as an afterthought. The market, not one publicity (the curse of our modern times!), and people give more character to an already beautiful scene.
And to top it all....... the black doomsday cloud hanging overhead, highlighting the steeple.
Thanks for sharing & a happy Sunday

An all too familiar city for me...One of the cities I visit everytime I am in Poland. The market square is beautiful and yes there are tons of umbrellas and beer patios. I like the lively scene you captured here. The many pedestrians add so much to the active atmosphere of this place. Good point of view Malgo but the colours seem to be fading a bit in this image.

A superb image of colors and good atmosphere. I like it very much, well seen.

se fai così non fai altro che aumentare la mia curiosità.
Bellissime architetture e fantastici colori, le persone animano piacevolmente la scena e il cielo rifinisce la composizione splendidamente.

a beautiful place and wonderful tribute to the TE of days gone by. I do wonder where the site is heading sometimes and do miss those excellent contributors who have gone elsewhere. However there is still a hard core of image makers that make staying here worthwhile and to be honest no other site offers the camaraderie that still permeates the postings and comments made. Super-shot!
Enjoy your Sunday - B.

Lovely atmosphere with all these people milling about. The colourful and interesting architecture makes an excelelnt backdrop to the activity. Very good technical realisation.

nice low angle shot to capture the place and the essence so nicely.like the colorful buildings and the bustling place.

One can easily see that there are some years gone by when this was taken. Having said that, this is of corse a charming scene with a lively market and those colored houses nestled below that castle like structure. What is it, a church, town hall or ..?
A pity can't have your meetings any more, even though I have the impression that there are quite a few polish compatriots around on TE.
have a great weekend

This is a beautiful visn of this place, the colors of the buildings are superb and the people have put so much life and vibrancy into the scene. Excellent architecture and you composed the fine old steeple perfectly in the scene. Shame that places change, not always for the better, I see notes to say it does not lo the same anymore. But at least your photo is a testament to the time :)
Have a great Sunday

This is a great shot of this colorful town square. The angle of the shot is great creating depth and direction. The people and stalls add life and interest to the scene. The muted lighting helps make the colors stand out even more.
Sergiom (80684) 2014-07-20 6:07
J'aime beaucoup les couleurs dans cette composition. Rien de tel qu'un bel alignement de maisons aux couleurs et aux formes différentes pour animer une scène de grande place dans une ville . Le clocher est spectaculaire.
photoray (13981) 2014-07-20 6:34
Poznan looks like a fun place with the outdoor possibilities as evident by the crowd, surrounded by classical architecture painted in multiple colors with arches all along the first floor and gabled roofs, then the magnificent center gothic architecture, especially the main tower evolving in different styles as it reaches skyward.
Thanks for sharing,
jemaflor (98007) 2014-07-20 9:35
a good angle and nice architecture with all these colors for these facades, impressive and original view with these heavy clouds.

Fun to see the same colourful houses as on Gert's recent upload. Interesting busy city square view. Sky with some dark clouds is impressive too.

batalay (38917) 2014-07-20 21:25
This reminds me very much of a square in Gdansk. Given a choice, I might arrange the colors of these houses in descending wavelengths, although to an extent it is that way. So, you had a TE meeting there... "6 years, 2 cameras and a few kilos ago." Lovely shot, lovely sentiment.
Warm regards, Malgorzata,
jjcordier (79297) 2014-07-20 22:06

As the City Council and the splendid square, are a marvel of the city of Poznan, which visit on my trip to your country, your composition is splendid, with these colorful facades and animation of people.
Very well balanced lighting and very good sharpness.
The color range is very good.
Well done. I love it.
Wish you a very nice week.

A fine composition in which the charming buildings in the background with their superb colours and architecture take us to anothet world and we return to reality only when we notice the street filled with the stalls and the tourists. The lovely sky with the dark clouds provides the perfect mood.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your evening.

Uauuuu Malgo, I felt tired only reading your note, I like to stay in a city and watch tourist go and wander in the empty place, so I stayed 2 days in Capri and and was great and also 3 days at Rodas enjoying at the evening the big ships finally going
Watching this colorful square , seems almost a fairy tale illustration , houses so full of color, impressive the one with the green domes
Indians so far? or people just playing with their instruments, this is more probable
Good work, regards
ikeharel (72143) 2014-07-21 22:00
Thanks Malgo, warm words.
I like those mid-town old squares, filled with abundance of colors, vivid and vibrant with the poeple / tourists around the shops and markets in.
Lovely pic., chosen perspective with the tower against the cloud add good contrast.
Nice day Tuesday,

Your note makes me smile, so it reminds me all my TE-meetings around the world. And the meetings must go on. I hope to see and Jason very soon.
I like this picturesque presentation of Poznan. So cute and colorful buildings! I love this place, I hope to visit this city someday too.

Nothing stays the same. Almost everything is constantly changing. Good to reminisce though! The crowds add life and scale to the colorful backdrop of buildings in alternating colors. Good sharpness and well framed and composed. Tfs!
