Photographer’s Note

Franciscan Monastery in Kalisz was founded in 1257 year, it was a wooden object. In 1339 wood was replaced with brick. In 1537 and 1559 was destroyed by fire. Monastery was rebuilt in 1599- 1632 year.

St. Francis used to greet those he met on the road with the greeting Pax et bonum, which means Peace and all good.

The term Franciscan is used to refer to members of Catholic religious orders that follow a body of regulations known as "The rule of St. Francis", or a member of one of these orders. There are also small Old Catholic and Anglican Franciscan communities.

The best known group following "The rule of St. Francis of Assisi" is the Order of Friars Minor (commonly called simply the "Franciscans"). The Order of Friars Minor is a mendicant religious order of men tracing their origin to Francis of Assisi.
