Photographer’s Note
My first panorama here. Image combined from 4 pictures. Some perspective and color correction was necessary.
Kalisz is the oldest town in Poland - in the II century AD, possibly earlier, Roman trade caravans heading for the Baltic sea used to stop there. It's impossible to summarize a history of Kalisz in a short note, see this websites if you're interested:

Buldings from right to left:
- Musical school, XIX and XX century. I used to attend there, that was a traumatic experience for both me and my teacher :)
- Ruins of medieval town walls form XIV century. The only remaining tower is called "Dorotka" (Dorothy). According to the legend, Dorotka, daughter of lord of Kalisz, fell in love with a shoemaker and refused to marry a person from her social class. Her father ordered to put her in the tower and brick up the door, she starved to death. The story is too romantic to be true, however, the tower was really used to imprison "immoral ladies".
- St. Joseph Sanctuary - XVII century church, interesting (well, not from that point of view) example of baroque monastic architecture .
- XVI century (expanded in XIX century) Jesuit collegium, consisting of a printhouse, school and monastery. In XVIII century Jesuit order in Kalisz was disbanded and an elite military school was established there. Soon the building changed ownership again - when Russian troops entered Kalisz, they used it as their quarter. Today, it houses various government offices.
Trees framing the view and behind the photographer's back - the oldest town park in Poland (late XVII century).
