Photographer's Note

Glogowko is a settlement in the administrative district of Gmina Piaski, within Gostyn County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, in west-central Poland.

Since the oldest times the hill near Gostyn has been called The Saint Place. In 1468 there existed the first Marian Chapel. The growth of the number of pilgrims and numerous miracles led to enlargement of the already existing chapel in 1512. Here, the miraculously healed magnale from Wielkopolska, Adam Florian Konarzewski, founded today's Immaculate Conception and St. Philip's Basilica. It is patterned after the Santa Maria della Salute Basilica in Venice. It was built 1676 to 1698 according to the desing of Baltasar Longhena. The cupola and the monastery itself were designed by Pompeo Ferrari. The construction works were supervised by the masters from the Catenazzi family.
The painting of Our Lady of Swieta Goraa, The Spiritual Rose, was crowned according to the Papal Law in 1928. The church was promoled as aBasilica Minor in 1971, and the monastery complex was acknowledged as a monument of history by the President of Poland. It is also worth mentioning that it is the only example of the full Italian Baroque in Poland.
The custodiians of the Swieta Gora Sanctuary are the priests from the St. Philip Neri Order, who, in 1668, founded the first Congregation - Oratory of St. Philip Neri in Poland.
