Hi Jan
very interesting monochrome image, full of details, it shows this woman making, sewing uniforms with their own two hands...and the uniform slowly brings shape under her eyes.
Have a nice day,
Rikk

Hello Jan,
Gala coal mine uniforms? Sounds strange to me. But it's a fine and very instructive photo of a woman at work. I like the texture of the sewing-machine which you have captured very well. Excellent b&w qualities.

Hello JJ.
As my father was a tailor (he is still alive but retired from the trade about 30 years ago!) I just had to look more closely at your photo. The b/w treatment is a good one here, and the photo really benefits from the very close crop. Perhaps there is a little more contrast than I would like, but the sharpness and clarity of detail is excellent. A very atmospheric shot of a scene which I witnessed every day of my life for so many years.
Regards,
Andrew

gala coal mine uniforms - if I hadn't followed your series about the closing of that mine some time ago, I would probably not understand...
my mother was a tailoress, too - when I was a kid she had an old Singer, the one you would operate with your feet, pressing a pedal - so seeing this woman sitting like this, with that piece of chalk, doing the exact same movements, it's like a jump back in time.
I like the strong contrast, the tonal range is also good - and if you shot under artificial light conditions then b/w is a smart choice, it makes it easier to have a good white balance.

The kind of picture I like too. There's a story inside, there's an ambiance. I am looking at, Jan, with emotions...that remember me my mother. I think I have the same pictures. Many thanks, friend,
Branko

Muszę niestety przyznać, iż kilkanaście twych ostatnich zdjęć to nie moja bajka :-(
Zarówno tematycznie jak i kolorystycznie, jak i sposobem obróbki.
...

Fajne kontrasty w B&W. Ciasny kadr, wyrazisty.
Pozdr. Al.
