About Poland. Page Seven: About Playgrounds

Before we move to "nice places" let's have a look at some signs of the past, again.
What was once a steel works is now a playground for kids. Not exactly the nicest nor the safest playground in the world but definitely well known to these kids.

The prices of the properties in attractive places in Poland reached the sky level: USD 8,000 in downtown Warsaw, USD 7,000 in Gdansk area with a view to the gulf (appartments).

Fabulous scene, expecially the interesting looking brick building, pipes work well int he compo, and the look of the kid the icing on the cake.

awesome b/w. For me the environent is crucial, and here the geometry of the place, the old, worn down look if this inudtrial site is superb. What a great setting for kids at play.

The boy seems to be floating in the air on hte left with that great abck look over the shoulder - amazing "landscape" so to speak, J, really wel composed and timed...

there is so much to look at here. nice lines and tones. when i look at this, i think "industrial playground". great choice of B&w too.. well done!

I reckon that safety condition in Poland are still far away from what it is considered as minimal in the western countries and in Australia just to talk about a country that I know pretty well. It is a pity that kids have to play in such dangerous places. I like very much your B&W picture. It really adds to the drama of those kids. They look happy but it is probably just superficial happiness.

yes, it isn't the safest playgrounf for children, but all of us, when we were children, we loved the most dangerous places to have fun and to play!

Trzymasz poziom, a kto trzyma, ten go podnosi. Robi wrażenie zarówno kompozycja jak i tonacja. Nie mówiąc o otoczeniu. Ale na Śląsku tak jest. Pozdrawiam.

Very good black and white my friend. I may take the chance to tell you that this is your best conversion I've seen lately. The contrast boost was so perfectly achieved. Not a single pixel misplaced here. The compo is a bit hard to read but that graduated sky really leads to some rest. That's perfect. The placement of the two kids is great and they really are crucial here. I just have one question that keeps echoing through my mind: I don't like those dark faces in b&w. I mean, he is a caucasian, Shouldn't the face be whiter? I always have this doubt when converting people's faces to b&w. Very good photo my friend!

Looks like a picture taken by two german artists I love in the field of photography who took during thirty years old factories. A very interesting impression of steel and glass monsters supposed to make people live. Those two kids are nicely taken and the black and white is perfect for the atmosphere.

Ładny kadr i dobrze uchwycony moment, bardzo ciekawa fota.
Ciekawe jest to, że dzieci nawet mając elegancki plac zabaw wybiorą takie właśnie miejsce do zabawy.

Witaj Jerzy!
Czarno/biały tutaj idealnie. Podkresla nieprzyjaznosc otoczenia. A ten chlopiec, niczym akrobata, po wąskim murku sobie drepcze. Niby patrzysz z daleka, a i tak uzyskałeś kontakt wzrokowy z oboma modelami :)

A cracking shot again. perfect in B&W. As Paolo says, we like dangerous places to play as kids. This reminds me of an old Gas works in West London, where I played at this same age. Thanks for bring back this memory, and for sharing this part of the world.

Witaj Jurek,
Who from among former boys does not remember such scenes from the own life? All agrees, so was sometimes, and afterwards parents they expostulated for torn trousers, broken elbows and terribly dirty palms. Here the part of the truth about the childish life of today′s great blokes. Perhaps tomorrow nous verrons their in Parliament? The excellent picture, very good B & W.

Oh, this is a great shot, Jerzy, I recognized this antiutopia-like industrial terrain at once. Excellent tilt and the upwards shooting angle. Nice example of a good use of clarify tool without causing so much of an "artificial" look to the image...

Styrong contrasts inthis B&W and perfect catch even with the boy just looking over the wall and the other well framed aside to see their rather dangerous playground. Nicely worked out for the dramatic feel.

ciekawa grafika, monochromatyzm niewątpliwie podkreśla charakter miejsca, potęguje wrażenie. Najgorsze jest to, że takie miejsca rzeczywiście są jedynym placem zabaw dla tysięcy dzieci...

Really impressive place! I can imagine there are so many elements to play with to create crazy compositions. I like the human touch and the smiles which take over the impressive factory.

As long as I remember - the most desirable fun place for me and my entire gang.
NOTHING can equal this stuff !!!
If you lucky enough, you can even break your leg or arm.
The cowardly ones usually escaped with the bruises and scratches. Pfew... Big deal!
If we can only be allowed to built the playgrounds like these.. Oh boy! I'll stay teen forever.

fantastic shot of a childhood playground j - yoiu know these industrial backgrounds are just the kinds of places I was seeking when i talked about visiting old or big industrial sites last january - this is a great composition in some respects but perhaps the nearer lad could have been better placed in the image - a little too close to the edge perhaps.

That picture remind me, to a certain extent, your LG World. Kids are kids. And they like to play. Give them a disued factory, lots of place to hide, or to jump on, or walk on dangerous, thin edges of a wall in ruins, give them pipes and steel, so they can become Tarzan or make as much noise as they can, and I guess you can see some smiles in their face. And sometimes, some tears too. Kids are kids. Thank God for that! And hope for parents to have wisdom to know that earth is a very dangerous place to live, and still let live their kids in that dangerous place...
Oh! I love this photo! Kids in their 'natural' environment! YES! Love it!

I live industrial site. This photograph shows it as what it is: an incredible place to explore... Thie picture is splontaneous and is nicely contrasted...
