Coal story again Photo

Photographer’s Note

One day I met this man, his horses and his cart in the main street of Bytom. I didn't know who he is. So I've done my private investigation and I have found him.
His name is Sylwester Jagla and he transports coal from Bobrek coal mine with his horses and his cart. He is the only man in Bytom who carries coal using horses.

I have already presented this incredible man here, but I consider he is worth to be shown again and again...

w szczawnicy byl taki dorozkarz, co po 'kursie' do ceny doliczal 'dodatek na piwo dla konia' - nie wiem ile pil kon ile sam dorozkarz, ale pod koniec dnia obaj ledwo stali na nogach ;)) - tutaj kon wyglada na nienalogowca ;))

Hello Jan,
I think I remember this man and his horse from the previous photos. It's nice to see someone who seems to enjoy his life and his work. It's a nice portrait and I like the tight cropping that gives as much importance to the horse as to his master. Very good black and white nuances.

we never get bored with such a portrait so full of humanity.
he's smiling...although his face bears the scars of tireness, hard working...and the black and white takes the compo into a timeless dimension....this shot could have even been made somewhere in the 50's!

Milo popatrzeć, jaki pan Sylwek zadowolony z zycia. Ciekawa jestem, czy jeszcze mają duzo klientów, tych co palą węglem w piecu lub kuchni. u mnie były kioedys piece kaflowe, to była miła rzecz, ale noszenie węgla mniej przyjemne.

Samo ¿ycie: prawdziwe, soczyste i bez niedomówieñ. Zdziwisz siê zapewne, ale jeszcze tak niedawno widywa³em wozaka z wêglem takze na ulicach poznania. Dzisiaj ci faceci maj± jakie¶ zdezelowane ciê¿arówki. Wêgiel przenosz± koszami ubrani we flanelowe koszule jak na Twoim zdjêciu. Nie³atwo dzisiaj o tak szczery u¶miech jak u pana Sylwestra.

bardzo ciekawa notka,
nie wiedzialem, ze w dzisiejszych czasach jeszcze ktos uzywa koni do transportu surowca...
W lesie, przy zrywce sa czasami niezastapione ale do przewozu wegla...
Moze to sentyment a moze oszczednosc i bezawaryjnosc - jak mawia moj sasiad - samochod jak nawali to stoi a kon nawali i dalej jedzie tylko troche smierdzi ;)
