Photographer’s Note

Tczew is never listed as one of the highlights of a visit to Poland, but it does have a few things to offer a tourist. For me personally, the bridges over the Vistula which I showed in the previous 3 photos are "the" things, but there are also 19th century tenement houses around the main square, several 13th and 14th century churches, a dutch windmill, the remains of defence walls, and of course the Vistula river, which used to be clean enough to take a swim (and which I did every summer while on holidays there at my gradma's :-)), and though it is not clean anymore, it still is the longest Polish river, one Polish kids learn to sing about, cause "as long as it flows, Poland shall not perish"...

The shot was taken from the old road bridge (Lisewski bridge)

znakomicie wyszedł sam tczew w oddali, natomiast z przodu szwankuje chyba ciut kontrast (rozpiętość pomiedzy bardzo jasnym i bardzo ciemnymi obszarami jest ogromna i podbijanie kontrastu chyba ciut ciut zaszkodziło);
tymniemniej - wielkie brawo za pomysł!

Zaledwie tylko na nieco d³u¿ej zamy¶li³em siê, a kilka wspania³ych fotografii usz³o by mojej uwadze. Uwielbiam B&W choæ z wielu powodów oferujê kolor, niestety. Piêkna, szeroka panorama z fontann± ¶wiat³a i cieni zachwyca starannym wykonaniem i bardzo dobr± jako¶ci±.

This is a nice B/W shot. I like the composition , the human elenement... The b/w convertion is very well done. Only one minor problem. To my taste the sky is a little overprocessed , and has a "plastic" taste.

Hi, Aleksandra. There is a very nice light in this picture. It is also very well composed with the diagonal starting from the bottom right corner and the churches towering over the town. The three people give the scale to the landscape. I find it impressive to see the Vistula frozen, we are not used to seeing frozen rivers over here in Belgium.

Excellent moody photo, Alex! I like the composition very much (the men walking and the moody industrial city in the BG). THe B&W is appropriate used here and in place..The bank adds an illusionary line thatdraws the look deeper into the picture and the dramatic cloudy skies tops it all and seals this very winterly picture. Well done!
